But What’s a Truth?

We hold these truths to be self evident…

The phrase “We hold these truths…” implies that a truth is not singular, and perhaps not equal. This project relates the different components of truth at an individual and societal level through a series of expressions including surveys, small group discussions, and interviews. Each aspect ponders truth through Foucault’s five domains (criterial, constructivist, perspectivist, experiential, and tactic-realist) to see how these spheres overlap with individual and societal understandings of truth and expertise. Research students from GBCC investigate, analyze, and present their findings on the elements of truth in society today.
